And ... I'm back.

I have decided that this time (and I really mean it, this time) I am going to stay on track and do this thing right. So here goes New York is over and I am back in St Louis twiddling my thumbs until the next leg of my "journey" begins.

St. Louis } Minnesota } Naples,FL

I've also added a new column on the side called Bookshelf|This Month I figure why not also share the books that I happen to be reading. Considering, lets be honest, the books I read tend to influence my writing. So I have put up November and there is a whopping 5 (oh boy!) I really recommend the 3 at the top, amazing.

Theatre + Blogging Apparently Doesn't Mix For Me

Hey so remember how its been FOREVER (literally) since I last posted who knew that working 9 show weeks and trying to keep up with a blog wasn't possible for me, well its nice to learn new things about yourself :) So I didn't read what the last thing I posted was so I guess I will just dive right into the here and now.

currently working on 42nd Street which closes on Wednesday - I feel like a party should be thrown after all is said and done and the obvious theme should be "I SURVIVED" because really this has to be one of the most intense shows across the board to put on. From the actors p.o.v they are tapping/dancing their feet off literally every night ( I know this because I have had to fix the shoes) and then there is the tech 11 pre-set basket for many many many quick changes that I do throughout the show is just unreal. So once this beast closes we open Do Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up, which is a funny little musical about life in Catholic school ( I am looking forward to simple plaid jumpers and white collared shirts - ooh and nun habits)

So in keeping with the whole idea of nomadic post-grad I will be moving to Naples, FL in January to start out on yet another theatre job which I am beyond excited to do and work on and not to mention Florida in the winter time (HELLO !!!) I promise many colorful and gorgeous pictures from my new paradise home when I get there but I still have a couple more months in good ole upstate to tackle :). I cannot begin to express how excited I am about getting to experience the Fall here. It is something that I have always wanted to cross off my list of experiences since I was little. I still need to go through my phone and post up the pictures that I have taken since my last post so I will do that when I get back home today.

(Continuing with my random information dump ...) So I have started taking Zumba classes which is something I would recommend to any and everyone to just try out once and the cool thing about Zumba is that there are so many different kinds no matter who you are you can probably find a class that is just perfect for you. The only thing I would NOT suggest is taking more than one Zumba class a day ( yes Thursday kicked my butt, and it still hurts anytime I move haha)

But that is a glimps of life right now, I will do better about keeping updated. BYEEEE

I Promise I Have Not Fallen Off The Face Of This Earth :)

So the reason why I haven't really posted in awhile is because I haven't really had anything funny to say - well actually I am sure that isn't true, but I was too lazy to write about the funny things. So having said that I think I am just going to do a photo dump of the pictures that HAVE been taking (see even though I'm slacking on blogging I'm not slacking on pictures :) ) And let them do the recap.

The carnival came to live across the street from the Theatre for the week.

This is an example of some of the stained glass work that is in the church/rehearsal space for the theatre. You know its really not that bad being on shoe fitting call all day long when this is what is behind you.

This reminded me of the costume shop back at school. :) :)
proof I can and HAVE cooked while being here - even though its normally frozen dinners if pressed I can eat real people food, see ?

doodles.

THE THEATRE. Okay so the really cool thing about this is the name its called Merry-Go-Round Playhouse and you see the round part to the left? that is where a real Merry Go Round used to be housed and that is where the audience sits (isn't that neat?) the more square parts is the stage and backstage.

DRIVING PICTURES:

Thanks for being specific SUNY, thanks

THE DRESS THAT GOT AWAY. This is just the worst - you know when you find that perfect dress on the hanger and you are like "yes this is the perfect addition to my closet" and then you try it on and the color is wrong the bust doesn't and its just an overall unflattering shape - yeah this is that dress. Oh but lets just take a moment and look at this 30's style beauty. I think I may have to figure out a pattern for this one and change the color and make one that will be THE dress. Also did I mention it was under $25.00. sigh. oh well.

Cool right ? I "blew" a bubble.

Having a Day Off ("what on earth is that?!")

So I had my first day off in two weeks and after running around 12+ shows since Monday I think it was well deserved. I decided to take a trip to a tiny little lake town about 15 minutes away with one of my roommates and another girl who works in the costume shop. (Yes this is the same place that I took a picture of earlier and just as promised I went back, look at that commitment to follow through)

Also in other news just found out that The Highlander is now available for instant play on Netflix - all is right with the world again.

Things I've learned about myself this past week:
*Buffalo sauce anywhere besides the midwest is a triffle too spicy for me
*I CAN go without a lot of sleep - but I just don't really like it and the less sleep I have the less likely I am to be able to thread a needle ...
*my torso is unnaturally long for most bathing suits (thanks genetics)

PICTURE,PHOTOS, AND BLURBS

hear ye hear ye dun-dun-dun-dUUn welcome to Skateatelles (or however you spell it)

THE LAKE: It was so beautiful and clear we sat for a little while with our feet dangling over and just looking at the water (which thoroughly enjoyed) also does that picture of stairs and gate remind anyone else of Pirates of the Caribbean or is that just me, I mean I would understand if it was just me)

This is their library, now tell me how cool is that ?!

walking through an alley to get to the water, this is what I call an "artsy" picture the one disappearing into the white light is my roommate (first successful photo-bomb)

THESE ARE AMAZING AND DELICIOUS, Pirogies
This is not the way to treat new friends (they exploded) also is it just me or do these look nothing like the picture above (aside from the exploded parts) just saying - I was being misled right from the get go - thanks Wegman's thanks.

some people think that Auburn is a little drab - and yes in some places it can kind of look a little industrial and run down but I think you just got to appreciate when the scenery surprises you - and take it for what it's worth.

Tales From Beyond ... aka Hey Ya'll I Survived Hell Week #1

Quick before I forget (update) leftover souffle put into a frying pan and cooked like you would an omelet does NOT equal fritata (well at least not for me) what it does equal is me getting antsy halfway through and making some pretty fancy souffle scrambled eggs. So there you go. Now onto my post

So for those of you who aren't familiar with the inner workings of theatre and what all goes into to putting up a show there is a little something that we liked to call tech week (or hell week would also work, so if you ever watched that special on the military or history channel about navy seal marines ... yeah its kind of like that) because of this people have made bank with targeted merchandise geared towards those lucky individuals who have gone through and lived to see the other side. "I Can't Its Tech Week" yeah that pretty much sums everything up. (can't pretty much sums up basic everyday things like dishes, showers, laundry, eating, ooh and my favourite, sleeping - though never fear I always had time for showering :) )I just wanted to explain why its been a while since my last post.

BUT we just opened Anything Goes last night and the audience loved it and the tech was amazing and the actors were extremely talented so it makes everything worth it. After opening night of a show it is a tradition to go to this local bar/restaurant called Curly's I got there and went to that back patio room where most of the company was - it was a beautiful night, not too hot not too cold and there was a little creek streaming by behind the patio and you could see the moon reflecting off the water through the trees and then some bright light caught my eyes ... oh yeah did I mention that the GIGANTIC correctional facility is right across the street !? haha of course it really doesnt bother anyone, or me for that matter I just wanted to be dramatic.

Now for some photo dumping from the past week:
when grocery shopping last night, I just had the strangest feeling like the beauty products were calling my name ... weird

THE COSTUME SHOP !!! hats, hats, and more hats. The picture on the left show the top of the ironing board my boss really likes to collect McDonald's toys and then put them up there - one of the toys from the Madagascar movie is up there and if you set the iron down too hard on just the right spot it starts to sing the song "I like to move it move it, I like to move it move it" and if that happens you are required to dance.

during the second act the wig guy did my hair up for the Opening night after party. Who says girls with short hair don't have hairstyle options has obviously never been around this wig guy before :) (just to you know its my real hair not a wig ...)

this is a little town that is close to where I am staying - there is a lake there and its cute little tourist town. I think I want to really visit it on my day off (sigh, when that ever comes) But the whole costume shop drove out there for a break.

this is a mural at a local mom and pop fish fry place.

Ehhh Real World Application!

"This Is Why We Go To School"
You know growing up when you bitch about having to do some type of homework that you absolutely hate and your parents assure you that fear not this will come in handy one day - and in my case you role your eyes and go "psh I'm going into theatre when will I ever need to do math .." well today lady and gents, today was that day that my parents told me about. Above are the pants (4 total) in which I had to perfectly center each individual button, and each pair of shorts had different measurements. And you know I mentally kicked myself the whole time grumbling at the fact that my parents were right all those years ago BUT you know what, that is a very aesthetically pleasing pair of shorts so thankyou Mrs. Kiel, Mrs. Brothers, Mrs. Hauser, Mr, Fernando, Mrs Bailie and any other math teacher I have had in my life. Oh and my parents.

The Corn Souffle I made for dinner. So I've been kind of feeling like the weak-link in my apartment, with my egg salad and raman noodle lunch and dinners so today I decided that I would kick it up a notch and made a corn souffle so 'ta-da' here it is. Sure the container I got was too small so I have some mixture left over that I hope to make a frittata with tomorrow (I'm assuming that deflated souffle = frittata, I'll let you know)

I'm ending this post with a picture from parking spot at work. I thought it looked cool. Whoo-hoo Genesee Beer (or something) :)

Meatloaf, Smeatload, Double Beatloaf ...

THIS JUST IN ...
I had beets (well "a" beet) for the first time and it tasted like ground with the texture of a mushy carrot - so that is that. Note to self.

Went out to the theatre today and its right on the lake. Isnt it pretty? Today was the perfect wind-surfing weather and I wish that I had the day off to do so. But what can you do.
